Day 136: Longer Regular Runs October 10, 2007

Posted by Joe in cold, goals.
trackback

Wednesday. 5.1 miles in 54:34. I have upped my mileage by making the 5 mile run my regular/short run. I feel great running 5 miles – today was no exception. It was cold out, but I dressed appropriately. The run felt great!

It looks like I will not be running in the 5k race this weekend. I am a bit disappointed, but I have so many other goals I am not missing a beat. Tha races will just have to wait a bit.

Joe,

I broke down and bought an UnderArmor shirt today. It’s one of those shirts that I bought in a large, put it on and thought, “Man, I’m sure glad I didn’t get the medium.” The thing definitely illustrates the fact that I’ve got a little more pudge to lose.

Anyway, I ran in this wonderful, magical shirt tonight and I cut my 3 mile time by 3 minutes. I don’t know if it was the new haircut, the 10 degree drop in the weather or what. But I came it at just over 27 minutes and felt like a million bucks. I almost made a rash vow and swore never to run in cotton again. Best $20 I ever spent.

Brad, it sounds like a combination of progress, good running weather, and good running clothes – and maybe that spankin’ new haircut! 😉 If you want to buy more tech clothes, but cheaper – Target’s C9 stuff from Champion is about half the cost of Under Armour. It’s all I can afford and it works great. Keep running man!

Ooo…thanks for the tip. I could only afford this shirt because it was $10 off.
