I came across an article this morning pointing to a recent study which suggests that not only running, but the “runner’s high” itself,  is connected to healthier hearts.

The study, published in the American Journal of Physiology’s Heart and Circulatory Physiology, found that rats didn’t reap the cardiovascular benefits of vigorous exercise when researchers blocked the receptors that bind morphine, endorphins and other opioids.

The most helpful treatment of “runner’s high” I’ve read is written by Amby Burfoot. Check it out at Runner’s World.
